 SCHOLARSHIP FUND RAISER
PUPPETRY GUILD TO HOST GALA
By popular demand The Connecticut Guild of Puppetry will
be paying a return visit to the format that wowed audiences and performers
alike at last year’s Fund Raiser. “So You Want to Be a Puppeteer - Season
2!” will be presented on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Augusta Curtis
Cultural Center, 175 East Main Street, Meriden, CT, from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M.
“So You Want to Be a Puppeteer - Season 2!” will be a reality inspired
Puppet Vaudeville. A variety of puppet styles will be performed in vignettes
by guest artists. A panel of celebrity puppeteers and puppets will provide
ongoing commentary during the evening’s entertainment. The panel of guest
judges will include Pam Arciero and “Grundgetta,” Marty Robinson and
“Telly,” and Jen Barnhardt from Avenue Q.
A winning act will be determined by audience ballot and will receive the $200
John E. Miller Prize. In the event of a tie vote the celebrity judges will
determine the winner.
A light buffet dinner will be served. Silent and Scotch Auctions will help to
provide an entertaining and memorable evening for performers and audience
members alike.

PUPPETRY GUILD TO HOST GALA FUND RAISER
The Connecticut Guild of Puppetry is celebrating its 33rd anniversary as a
chartered Guild of the Puppeteers of America, Inc. In 1997 the Guild was
recognized by the Puppeteers of America as the Outstanding Guild in the U.S.
Funds raised at this event will be used to provide scholarship support for a
deserving puppeteer to attend the National Puppetry Conference at the
Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, CT, in June. The Guild’s
Scholarship is named in honor of the late renowned Connecticut puppet
artist, Margo Rose. Margo was a charter member of the Connecticut Guild of
Puppetry.
